Yes, using solar PV panels to support their daytime power needs should be the first on agenda so also that they should adopt and develop lands as bio-diversity forests.
References :
Thats a great idea. Then the cost of everything produced will be the true cost including the environmental cost. Which will make everything more expensive. In the end that means if it takes you 20 hrs of work per week to feed yourself after we all turn green it will take about 50 hrs of work per week just to feed ourselves. Eventually we'll all live in mud huts with dirt floors work 80 to 90 hrs per week just to keep ourselves alive and mercifully die before we reach 40 years of age. But we'll all be happier knowing that we contributed to a greener planet.

I feel better already.
References :
I think the primary responsibility lies with the government. If the policies and enforcement are honest and true, every place in India will be green. Given a choice, corporates will noty do anything, unless it saves some money.
References :
agriculture being a loosing business to the farmers are selling their land at throw away prices .which requires much drastic steps than above as this will result in famine like situation and will forced to import food at 4 times higher prices and wipe out 60% of green land
References :
This is an excellent sentiment, but there is a problem with it. The problem is that publicly held companies (but not privately held ones) are legally required to act in such a way as to maximize the financial returns to their stockholders. Unless environmental protection can positively impact the bottom line for these companies, they will not and cannot make the decision to make environmentally friendly decisions.

I agree that if Governments gave tax incentives to these corporations, it would be more likely that such actions would positively impact their bottom line. It may not be the most economically efficient allocation of federal monies, but it could get the job done.
References :
Degree in Environmental Economics

i agree that changes need to begin at the individual level, but these big and even small companies should be held accountable as well, there are many things that these companies could do to help the environment and a lot of them are easy, switching to CFL type bulbs, using recycled products as often as possible, recycling, etc all the things that each of us should be doing in our own homes. and yes they should get tax incentives for doing certain things like switching to hybrid vehicles, putting up solar panels to help make them more self sufficient, switching to energy star products, etc. just my opinion though.
